Telesystem's Data Center Passes Rigorous Audit to Validate Implementation of Superior Operational Standards and Controls
TOLEDO, Ohio – October 9, 2013 – Telesystem, a leading provider of communication, collaboration and information services for commercial customers, today announced that the company has successfully completed the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Report. Completion of the SOC 2 Report indicates that the processes, procedures and controls implemented by Telesystem for their Data Center and Managed Services have been thoroughly tested and reviewed by an independent certified public accounting firm. The report reaffirms Telesystem's commitment to operational excellence and specifically covers controls relevant to Security and Availability.
"The SOC 2 Attestation provides our customers with the confidence that their data and systems are sufficiently secure and available," stated John E. Martin, President, Telesystem. "Our customers have additional assurance that Telesystem's internal and system's controls are industry standard compliant. This is a major advantage to any organization looking for a business partner or service provider. It demonstrates to our customers that we take the trust they give us seriously."
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) established the SOC 2 to effectively replace the Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) 70, as the official auditing standard for service organizations to demonstrate they have adequate processes and controls in place. The audit was conducted by SSAE 16 Professionals, LLP, a nationally recognized PCAOB registered CPA firm. Telesystem's audit included a full evaluation of the following:
- Security: Data Center is protected against unauthorized access (both physical and logical).
- Availability: Data Center is available for operation and use as committed or agreed.
"Telesystem voluntarily sought independent verification through the SOC 2 Report and it helps to solidify us as a trusted provider of Data Center and Managed Services," said Daniel Miller, Data Center Manager, Telesystem. "We wanted to ensure if our customers ever question if their Data Center has the necessary controls in place, that answer will always be yes. They never have to worry about why not or what's missing, because Telesystem has taken the time to understand the AICPA standards for SOC reporting and is committed to high quality operational standards."
