PRESS RELEASE – Toledo, Ohio, August 30, 2019. Telesystem, a nationwide provider of communication, collaboration, infrastructure, and security solutions announced today that they are deploying a telecommunications carrier hotel in Monroe, MI.  Monroe is strategically positioned between Detroit, Michigan and Toledo, OH, with each key city in the area being less than a 45-minute drive.

Telesystem is in active discussions with a number of telecommunication carriers to bring direct network connections into the building.  The data center facility was previously owned by La-Z-Boy Inc., and was purchased by Telesystem in 2014 as a secondary customer colocation facility.  The data center boasts 4,000 square feet of floor space with room for over 100 cabinets, is built to Department of Defense specifications with redundant power generators, N+1 power and cooling, and carries SOC-2, Type-2 attestation.

“This is a major step for Telesystem regarding the diversification of our service portfolio,” said Telesystem Chief Business Development Officer Bruce Wirt.  “We are now able to offer customers a carrier-neutral facility in a desirable location for commerce in the Midwest, as well as to offer service providers a top of the line facility in the area to colocate.”

Crystal Flash, a fuel distributor in Grand Rapids, MI for more than 100 years, chose Telesystem’s Monroe, MI facility because it gave them the ability to place their equipment in a secure facility with access to redundant Internet providers.  Aside from their connection to Telesystem, Comcast built a fiber connection into the building for use by Crystal Flash.

“We at Crystal Flash were shopping for a data center and the Telesystem data center checked all our boxes,” said Brian George, IT Infrastructure Manager at Crystal Flash. “Security, SOC compliance, location, flexibility, power backup, fiber capacity and bang for the buck. The people at Telesystem were phenomenal in helping us transition to their data center and helped us make that transition seamless.”
